Hi, can anyone tell me if there is a doctor in England or Europe who can carry out a peripheral stem cell transplant without a blood transfusion.My son who is 24 and has hodgkins disease will need this very soon.

This is a good question for Dave Brewington to answer. Dr. Patricia Ford, a physican that he works with, would know or be willing to consult with another physician about the possibility of accomplishing a "bloodless" stem cell transplant. You can contact him thru this site under the member section. I will also tell him that you placed this post.

Hi Jacky, you are requesting information concerning a doctor who might undertake a stem cell transplant without recourse to blood.

Here in Cardiff a haematologist has done such a procedure on a Jehovah's Witness who requested non-blood management. It would not be ethical to give out the doctors name but if your son's consultant, after deciding not to proceed, contacted the haematology department at the University Hospital of Wales, it might be possible for a referal.
