Successful arthroscopic treatment of ankle with autologous cultured cartilage cells

Article Summary: co.don® AG –successful arthroscopic treatment of ankle with autologous 3-dimensional cultured chondrocytes - co.don chondrosphere® (ACT 3D)

This article reports that co.don® AG, a leading Regenerative Medicine/Tissue Engineering biomedical company in Germany, has expanded the application of one of its products, an autologous cartilage tissue regeneration product marketed in Germany as “ARTHROCell 3D” and in Switzerland as “CURMED AG”. This product was recently used in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the ankle. It had previously been used in knee surgery, but this most recent application appears to support its use in minimally invasive therapeutic cartilage repair of smaller joints. Minimally invasive surgery has clear benefits to both patient and hospital related both to reduction of risk and reduction of cost. co.don® AG specializes in developing autologous cell-based therapeutic products for the replacement of damaged cartilage, intervertebral disks, and bone.
