New cardiac device approved

Article summary: New Cardiac Device

Company AtriCure, based in West Chester, OH, developer, manufacturer, and marketer of devices for minimally invasive surgery, has won FDA approval for a device that enables doctors to identify potential arrhythmia trigger areas in the heart, ablate these, and assess the effectiveness of the ablation. The device, called the Isolator Transpolar Pen System, is the only device cleared for such use. The company also makes a clamp for use in minimally invasive non-cardiac surgeries that helps doctors access anatomical structures and perform ablative procedures more easily.
