No Blood "Dot" Stickers
The other day I had a call from one of my ER admitting representatives. She called and said their was a "No Blood" patient in one of the ER Beds about to be admitted. She said It was not by religous preference that i 1st identified him but rather by a small round sticker that stated "NO Blood" that he had put on his insurance card.
I thought, "What a wonderful way to let others know you are a no blood patient". Honestly I never saw a use for these little dots until now. Here is a link to the company that sells them.  FIRST Healthcare Products - Medical Records Storage, Clipboards for Healthcare Professionals~

I clicked on the link and saw the 3/4 inch 'dots' but could not get a price. I even registered an account. Just curious.

I'm not sure why the price is not showing. My purchasing dept is closed at this time so i haven't recieved a quote or price. I imagen that depending on the contract the price will differ.

No Blood stickers
I sent an email to the Colorado sales rep to see if I can get ahold of some of those stickers. If I do, I'll share.

They are $12.50 for a roll of 500. I have given them out at bloodless medicine seminars...can also be put on the back of driver's licenses. I do like the idea of putting one on your insurance card also. The more ways of getting the message across to healthcare workers, the better.

Get's attention
We use these 'dot's' regularly in our program. They are very useful in identifying any notes made in the patient chart by placing a 'dot' to the side or in the margin. Also if you have physcian orders for minimal blood draws, blood conservation protocol, etc, it's nice to put one of these 'dot's' next to that order to make it stand out from the others. Using these identifiers increases the chances that all staff treating that patient will be aware of their wishes. Using the dot on the insurance card is a clever idea, I had someone approach me about getting one to put on their driver's license. So there are many good uses for these little 'dot's'.

Color Coded Dots
Color coded dots are used in our patients' charts. They signify the colors preferred by the physicians and the charts are thus tagged for whatever reason. The medical staff knows which "dot belongs to which doctor." I hope they never run out of colors.
