Two Questions....

Hello All,


I just returned from Transfusion Committee with new assignments, and would appreciate your help!

1) Our hospital and our local blood bank would like to put together a rFVIIa (NovoSeven) protocol. We presently do not use the product off-label very often, but with new research being presented in so many journals, we would like to put a protocol in place. Also, I would appreciate knowing who makes the decision to use the drug (ie, do you use a specific individual(s) as a resource for appropriate use), how many doses, when to stop, etc. If you are able to share your protocol, or even your "unofficial" protocol, it would be appreciated.

2) Has anyone had any success with implementing house-wide microdraws? The Med. Director of our Lab tells me they are already doing the bare minimum, but he would be open to new ideas. Especially of concern are ICU/ CICU/ Peds patients.
