Blood Transfusions May Have Killed Millions

I've recently found an interesting article written by Jon Barron discussing two studies (one study out of Duke University and the other which appears in the March 20, 2008 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine) that indicate blood transfusions may have been the direct cause of millions of deaths. I found the article truly fascinating.

Very interesting...I think the bottom
line is...the very fact of blood starting
to age right after it leaves the body
renders it unusable...or at best risky!

Hello Robert,

Thank you very much for this article. In my humble opinion and the research done "here and there" I am of the opinion and believe that a person's blood is his own unique "fingerprint." If a baby growing in a woman's womb warrants an attempt to reject it by the woman's body, than someone else's blood transfused from a "stranger" or even multiple "strangers" must truly overwhelm the recepient's body. At least the body is stimulated to maintain the pregnancy. With blood, the body must be trying valiantly to rid itself of the foreign "object." As I said, this is my opinion based on common sense, I hope.
