Question VCJD! No blood thank you!

In England there as been 2 reported cases of VCJD contracted through blood transfusion, some of our blood products are shipped over from America why is this? Do you have a test for VCJD in America? Also as there been any cases reported where VCJDhas been transmitted through blood transfusion?
