Problems from blood transfusion.

I'll start with a few of the potential dangers of accepting a blood transfusion.
Please add to it and, if possible, give details (eg articles, papers etc.).
HIV
Hepatitis
Malaria
Syphilis
Typhoid fever
Chaga's disease

It can also inhibit your recovery time. Even if blood types are similar, you have introduced a foreign substance into the body and, like anything else, the body's initial response is to attempt to reject it. This can translate into longer hospital stays and more difficult recovery periods.
