Exclamation No Reason other than my "Wishes"

I am a healthy, 35 Year old married male from WISCONSIN, with no religous reasons to refuse blood or blood products. I have decided that I don't want any type of medical care other than pain meds and wound dressings.

I mean they can fix a broken bone or fix a cut as long as it doesn't require: CPR, Feeding tubes, Blood or Blood products etc.

If I am injured so badly that I will die without the use of these things... then so be it.

Is it my right to have a living will declare all this?

It's my life and if I don't want these people poking and proding and conducting "experiments" on me while I am unable to communicate... don't I have the right to refuse any life saving techniques?

This is my wish. I just want to be left alone in this situation. heavy pain meds for comfort and nothing more.

I don't feel my wife has the right to go against my wishes. It is my medical care... and I will decide what I think is best for me. Not my wife who will probably miss the extra income more than my company.

Jon,
Since you feel so strongly about these issues, it would be a good idea for you to formulate an Advance Directive. There are several websites where you can get this information, forms and instructions on filling out the state specific documents. Here's a few: www.choicesindying.com ; www.dyingwithdignity.ca ; www.compassionindying.org ; www.agingwithdignity.org .
The Aging With Dignity site has the "Five Wishes" documents available and an instructional video. It's pretty comprehensive documentation that will probably cover all your concerns.
Many people are concerned with these "end of life" issues and it is important to document your concerns and wishes about your health care before an issue arises.
Thank you for bringing up this important issue.

Bear in mind that DNRs are nullified if you go to surgery. They can be reinstated post-operatively.
