NEW ORLEANS -- A restrictive transfusion policy reduced blood use by 50% and posed no hazards to older patients with cardiovascular disease who were undergoing surgery for hip fracture, data from an NIH-funded study showed.

Transfusions

I know the article mentions older patients and patients with Hepatitis and AIDS, but what about children with cancer, does this also help them? Do you know of any articles that prove that refusing blood transfusions for children with cancer (medulloblastoma or leukemia, osteocaricoma) would be more beneficial than allowing the blood transfusion?
