Flu vaccine risks

Although this information is not directly related to transfusion alternatives or blood management, I feel it is important enough to belong here on NoBlood, for the benefit of our members. If you don't have Flash player or a similar plug-in on your computer, you may not be able to view the video portion, but the text contains the pertinent information.

Avoid Flu Shots With the One Vitamin that Will Stop Flu in Its Tracks - Articles

Warning individuals about the risks of any medication is one of the responsibilities of the health care profession, as is questioning the reasons a drug is given when an increasing body of research-based evidence does not support that particular drug's effectiveness. This should also hold true when the side-effects or ingredients of a drug pose sufficient risk to outweigh the benefits, if any, of its continued use.

In this case, flu vaccinations (and others) are a medical and cultural sacred cow, but should be scrutinized using the same standard as any other substance people may be urged to put in their bodies.

Please be reminded that the opinions voiced in the above article should not be construed to be those of NoBlood, nor is any medical recommendation being made by posting this information on this site. Individuals should always consult their own medical advisors and do their own research to confirm the facts before making any decision about their health care.
