Pioneering KEYHOLE SURGERY Used in Ectopic Pregnancy!

To comply with the wishes of patient Stephanie Hayward not to be cut open and left with an ugly scar, three surgeons at Colchester General Hospital performed a unique keyhole surgery to remove two embryos which had become trapped in one of the patient's fallopian tubes.
Obstetrics and gynaecology consultant, Barry Whitlow, who led the operation said: "This was the first twin ectopic pregnancy in the same tube I have ever seen in 14 years as a doctor and I will probably never see one again. The fact that the tube was attached to the bowel made this a very, very rare and difficult situation."
Dr. Whitlow also stated: "It was a complicated procedure, which I have never performed before and I needed specialist support from two other surgeons."
Keyhole surgery under such complicated circumstances makes this surgery unique and believed to be a medical first and is expected to be written up in medical journals.
Ms. Hayward has made a full recovery and has a scar less than an inch long.
