Congratulations To Flower Hospital!

The Association for Blood Conservation (ABC) is proud to announce that Flower Hospital in Syvania, Ohio has demonstrated once again a high standard of care in bloodless/blood conservation by achieving substantial compliance to the eight (8) ABC Administrative and Practice Standards. Flower hospital was originally accreditted in 2002 and has maintained accreditation through a re-accreditation survey early this month.
Shirley (Tucker) Cook lead the way during both surveys. her program is managed well, uses a multidisciplinary approach and is integrated into the rest of the hospital's activities. Both Flower's and Hackensack's programs were evaluated on the newest STANDARD VIII - BLOOD CONSERVATION. The rationale for the standard is, "A comprehensive BC/BMS Program includes a variety of methodologies that can eliminate or reduce the use of blood/blood products within the facility." Both did well.
We believe Flower Hospital's Bloodless Care Program along with other accreditted programs, serve as a benchmark for non-acreditted programs to measure themselves by.
Congratulations to Shirley and her team for leading the way!

How does your program measure up?
