There is a simple, non-invasive way to prevent obstetrical hemorrhage. A pilot study of 206 patients who were treated using a neoprene suit to stop PPH (postpartum hemorrhage) – a major cause of death among women in childbirth especially in Third World countries – reveals that there was a 50% reduction in blood loss with use of this lightweight, reusable, below-the-waist anti-shock garment (the NASG). There was a 69% decrease in deaths and serious illness resulting from hemorrhage among the subjects treated with the suit. This suit can be applied by anyone, no medical training is necessary, and is designed to keep the woman alive until adequate medical treatment can be provided. Even women who were considered clinically dead were resuscitated using this low-tech method. Read
