Agranulocytosis

An acute disease in which there is a sudden drop in production of leukocytes (white blood cells), leaving the body defenseless against bacterial invasion. A great majority of the cases of agranulocytosis are caused by sensitization to drugs or chemicals that affect the bone marrow and thereby depress the formation of granulocytes.
