Laparoscope

A device similar to an endoscope that is used to view internal structures of the abdominal cavity. A small incision is made through the abdominal wall and the laparoscope is normally inserted while the patient is under mild anesthesia. This device permits the viewing of internal organs such as liver, spleen and pancreas. Some minor surgical procedures, such as removal of the gallbladder, can be performed with this device.
