interested in treating anemia naturally

HI -just joined-actually found this site accidently.
I am interested inanything that can help my father(85) who has low hemaglobin levels and has subsequently had to have 6 blood transfusions since April.
We are waiting for results of a bone marrow biopsy- there is a possibility that he may get Erythropoetin injections instead of blood transfusions.
Needless to say each event is traumatic for a man his age.
Anyone with suggestions?? What about Liquid chlorophyll.?Or wheat grass or Blue green algae- don't know which to go for -Thanks Ethne

It sounds like your dad is not suffering from iron deficiency anemia but from something that is interfering with red cell production. This could be an auto-immune problem, chronic infection, or malignancy.

Chlorophyll is a peptide similar to hemoglobin, but rather than an iron atom, it contains a magnesium atom. Both wheatgrass and blue green algae are good sources of chlorophyll. Spinach, kale, and other leafy greens also are rich sources.

Both wheatgrass and blue green algae have substantial health benefits. The enzymes, minerals, and alkaloids they contain may help jump start his marrow.
