Any Experience with Recothrom?
I was recently approached about a new drug called recothrom. This is a synthetic thrombin which may be invaluable to those who refuse all fractions of blood.

Good Option
Our Steering Committee for the Center for Blood Conservation requested to add RECOTHROM to the formulary due to it's acceptance by those who will not take blood or blood products (fractions). All other thrombin comes from human or bovine sources, so this product, while a little more expensive, provides a good option in surgeries with patients opposed to blood fractions. Our P & T Committee approved it's usage only with patients who participate in our program.
