My wife went in for surgery, ended up having complications and they knew our stand but they offered an alterative HBOC's called Biopure, and Hemipure. At the time was not sure what it was talked to the HLC and they advised that I read the new August 2006 Awake and it answered my question and I was able to explain to the Doctor that we would not be able to accept the HBOC's and why. I know that in the future this is going to be something that many brother's and sister's and like myself did not know what they were talking about, they told me that it did not contain red blood cells so it should be safe for your wife to take. The Magazine came just at the right time. Has anyone heard any other information on the HBOC's
