i'M SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT DR. LAPIN'S DEATH. I HAD THE OPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS A DIFFICULT OB CASE WITH HIM IN THE EARLY 1980'S. HE WAS A VERY DEDICATED MAN.
MY ORIGIONAL COPY OF NO MAN'S BLOOD WAS LOANED OUT AND NEVER RETURNED. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN OBTAIN ANOTHER COPY? RICHARD |

Im Ron Lapin's other daughter. It's nice to hear good stories about my father. I never had the opportunity of getting to know him. I was 5 years old when he passed away and no one would ever tell me nice things about him. If anyone would like to share information or other stories about my father Id really appreciate that. The gentlemen that posted a previous comment stating that "he represents the Lapin family" should know great amounts of details about "our family".

from Wikipedia Ron Lapin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ronald Lapin (1941-1995) pioneered and advocated for excellence in surgical skill through the use of the electric scalpel, thereby eliminating the need for blood transfusions. He first became interested in this procedure when he was approached by a Jehovah's Witness in need of surgery (but due to religious beliefs, could not accept any blood transfusions). He founded a bloodless surgery center in Norwalk, California. For his challenges to common medical practices, which Lapin presented as substandard and unacceptable, he experienced attacks and sabotage. His career is the subject of the book No Man's Blood. As happens with the work of many of science's radical pioneers, throughout the world today many hospitals now accept and routinely use Lapin's techniques for successful, bloodless surgeries for issues ranging from brain surgery to open heart surgery to cancer removal. An example is Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in Englewood, New Jersey. Lapin was nominated for a Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1983. Lapin88 I want to let you know I have never heard anyone I know speak about your father except with the utmost respect. Being among those that can't accept blood we very much appreciate what your father went through to become a pioneer in bloodless surgery. I have a copy of the book "No Man's blood". It has been loaned out many times so that people can have a better idea as to what it was your father accomplished. You should feel very proud to be his daughter.
