Hello. This is my first time posting to this site but I find the responses very informative thanks to the input of so many inciteful members. I have been trying to find out any alternative strategies to treating my jehovah's witness patient who has TTP and whose conscience will not allow him to accept plasma exchange treatment. The heme/onc specialist reluctantly agreed to try IVIG (1g/kg x 2 days) and high dose steroids. Is anybody aware of any additional treatments or possibly plasmapharesis utilizing non blood product replacement? Is there any benefit to giving a prolonged treatment of IVIG? I would appreciate ANY input, no matter how minimal. thanks!
