From November 3-7, 2008, the Society for the Advancement of Blood Management (SABM) will celebrate the 2nd Annual Blood Management Awareness Week.

Milwaukee, WI [November 3-7, 2008] – The Society for the Advancement of Blood Management (SABM) has announced that the week of November 3rd through November 7th has been designated for the 2nd Annual Blood Management Awareness Week. SABM invites healthcare organizations worldwide to participate in this week dedicated to educating patients and healthcare professionals about blood management and blood issues.

Founded in 2001, SABM is an educational organization comprised of a network of medical practitioners from a wide variety of medical and scientific disciplines who are dedicated to improving patient outcomes through optimal blood management in clinical practice through education, cooperation and research. SABM works to facilitate cooperation among existing and future blood conservation, bloodless medicine and surgery programs as well as enhance the clinical and scientific aspects of transfusion practice.

To further raise awareness, SABM is providing a toolkit on its website (SABM | Society for the Advancement of Blood Management) for healthcare organizations interested in promoting best practices and education in blood management during Blood Management Awareness Week.
