CONGRESS CROATIAN SOCIETY FOR ADVANCEMENT OF BLOODLESS MEDICINE
WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION

Zagreb, Croatia
September 22-25, 2005
Hotel Westin

Honoured colleagues and friends,

I have special honour and great pleasure to invite
you on the 1ST
Congress of Croatian Society for Advancementof Bloodless Medicine. Founding of the Society was a result of our joining world movement in medicine which advocates for use of drugs and techniques for providing better bleeding controlandmedical care withoutallogenic transfusions except for those patients who need blood transfusion unavoidably. Bloodless approach have reduced tranfusion risks and promotedpatients rights to participate in their treatment choice.Croatian medicine have been successfully following modern medical advances for years, but we haven´t done enough in the field of bloodless medicine. At first sight it seems that the main problem is restriction of funds for providing medicaments and equipment, but a lot can be done if we change attitudes toward transfusion medicine. So the aim of this Congress is to transmit scientifically established facts about bloodless treatment in everyday croatian clinical practise. We hope that this Congress will stimulate organisation of interdisciplinar scientific medical teams in Croatia, which will recognize the use of less risky and noninvasive and even more economical methods of treatment as an challenge for medicine of third millenium.

Congress is multidisciplin
ar and it is not assigned just to physicians. We expect that also nurses and technical staff participate on this Congress, because they are our closest assistants in medical treatment and nursing of patients, and the approach of bloodless treatment is not possible without their participation. Scientific program of Congress will include topics from internal medicine, surgery, anaesthesiology, reanimation, paediatrics, transfusion medicine, bioethics and health nursing.
This is the first congress organized in Croatia and in this region with topic of development of bloodless medicine. We are looking forward to share experiencies with our colleagues and friends from Europe and USA, because representatives of international societies for promoting bloodless medicine have announced their arrival on the Congress.

We hope that our Congress will stimulate founding of similar societies in region and mutual cooperation.

Zagreb is a special town in September, with its pleasant weather, picturesque view and pleasant atmosphere.
It is our wish that you keep this Congress in your mind for a long.

President of the Croatian Society for Advancement of Bloodless Medicine
Prim. Ivo Radman
