  • Alpha-1-antitrypsin

    Alpha-1 antitrypsin is a protein that is produced mainly by the liver and found in blood plasma. It protects tissues, especially those of the lungs, by blocking the destructive effects of certain enzymes. A lack of this protein may lead to emphysema and liver disease.
