First Time Filling Out Blood Card

I recently got baptized last year in November, and the faithful and discreet slave has sent the JWs in the state of Georgia to fill out new forms of the Blood Cards because old ones are useless. I need to fill one out by this Sunday and I am completely new to this NoBlood. I knew about not receiving blood but knowing other treatments, medications, procedures is completely new to me.

I'm just really overwhelmed by all the vocab and terms I saw in the NoBlood Wiki. I kind of understood the surgical procedures like Hemodialysis and I think I'm okay with that one. Other things like uh..substances derived from blood cells, plasma, etc. Those are really confusing. All I know is I want treatments that will not transfer anything another person had (I think things derived from plasma do that? I think that is what the NoBlood wiki stated).

Could anyone help me sort out some things? some basic things i should know? like...albumin...hemoglobin...I don't know if they ARE blood or not considered as blood...;;

I'm not a medical professional but I wanted to make sure that you knew about some articles in our literature that may help. November Kingdom Ministry p3-6

September 1999 Kingdom Ministry p7

August 2006 Awake p 9

January 1, 2000 Awake p8-9 Box

In addition to the above articles you can review the June 15 2000 Watchtower pg. 29 and the Oct. 15, 2000 Watchtower Pg. 30
Take you time and make a prayerfull decision on this matter. Clarify any further questions you may have before deciding.

Make sure you have the instruction form for filling out your DPA.
Read all the above articles.
Sit down wuth one of your elders and ask him questions on filling out DPA
If I can be of further assistance email me at scottyh@nycap.rr.com

The best thing for you to do initially is talk with your elders. If they cannot impart suffieient understanding on these matters they may put you in contact the the local HLC who may discuss this with you further. These individuals will not impose any personal ideas rather explain to their best ability how and why. You will need to make your own personal decisions.
These matters aren't as scarey as they seem.

Congratulations by the way on your recent baptism.

Clarification

Just to clarify the above comment, local elders are responsible for helping publishers complete their DPA, not the HLC. As noted in the annual letter to congregation elders from HIS, "elders should contact the HLC directly on behalf of baptized and unbaptized publishers who request assistance in finding a cooperative doctor or when a blood transfusion is threatened". So the HLC is primarily for emergency's, and their numbers should not be given out to anyone unless it involves an emergency situation. It is up to the local elders to help those within their congregations to plan ahead for unexpected and challenging medical situations.
