Exclamation Prenatal anaemia

I am searching for an article that was listed on the previous site, with the following address:

www.noblood.com/dept/articles/items/000053.asp

If anyone can assist me to find this, or similar, I will be extremely grateful. It relates to a child (Quincy J Celsey) that was on a ventilator for 19 days or so. We have a friend with a 26week prem baby, and the doctor wants to take it off the ventilator already stating it is dangerous to keep it on the machine any longer (has been in since Monday). She also wants to transfuse the child and will not even look at info regarding alternative treatments.

Hi Larry
Thank you for responding. If you have any information that may be of use, in order to avoid transfusing the little mite, please let me know.
Regards
Nicky

I cannot find the post you refer to Nicky but here's an article that indicates transfusing infants for anemia of prematurity does not confer any significant benefits:
The Premature Infants in Need of Transfusion (PINT) study

And there's another one here that discusses the role of erythropoietin in these patients to reduce or eliminate the need for RBC transfusion:

Pediatric Heart Surgery

You might want to go to www.sabm.org website...check the reference library topics for pediatrics. There are several articles related to using EPO in premature infants.
