Blood Loss In Prostatectomy
Blood loss in prostatectomies is very high. Hemoglobin levels can drop quite significantly however RBC transfusion can be avoided if perioperative blood salvage techniques are used. Cell Saver, Hemodilution. If your starting HB range is in the normal range of 14-18 g/dl and cell saver is used you have an excellent chance of avoiding transfusion.
