Rh immunoglobulin (RhIg): synthetic

Is there any synthetic Rh immunoglobulin (RhIg)? I am researching for RhIg that is completely not-derived from blood.
Thanks

There has been recent discussion of this subject in these forums. If you type "Anti-D" in the Search box at the top of this page you will see what arose from that discussion. It seems that an Australian company, Life Therapeutics, has developed a recombinant rhIG antibody, but at that time the enquirer was unable to contact anyone at that company who could help her. Maybe you could try again?

There are several other companies who have developed a recombinant rhIG, and a patent has been filed in the US, but as far as I can ascertain the drug has only passed through Phase I clinical trials so far, and has not yet been approved for commercial release.

In researching the literature I came across a document titled "Emerging Technologies in the Management of rh Negative Pregnant Women" published by a research group at the University of Warwick, UK, in 2007. In it they state:

"Issues regarding safety of plasma-based anti-D could be resolved by the use of recombinant anti-D antibodies. These would eliminate any related concerns about safety and ethics, and biotech companies believe that they will be easier and cheaper to produce than plasma derived anti-D [5]. Attempts to produce monoclonal antibodies (mAb) specific for RhD go back as far as the 1970s (reviewed by [2]), but a recombinant anti-D of clinical grade is not yet available. Identification of a suitable antibody and the search for evidence on whether an antibody mix would be more efficient are challenging tasks."

So it's not looking hopeful that there is a recombinant ant-D on the market yet. But you might try Life Therapeutics again.
