Having a Lumpectomy in June but it is not cancer.

Hi There,

I have searched the web wide and far about my upcoming Lumpectomy for the removal of a Giant Fibroadenoma. If I were to believe everything on the web, i would have to say that it seems impossible someone would have to have 1/2 their breast removed for non cancerous treatment and so no advice or support is offered.

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and therefore have signed my advance medical directive and have advised the Surgeon that i will not take blood and will be meeting with him in 2 weeks to discuss further my wishes. Are there any specific issues I should be aware of with the removal of the Fibroadenoma relating to blood issue? How long before surgery should I stop taking NSAIDS, Garlic, Ginko Biloba etc?

Thank you in advance for your replies and support. I appreciate having this forum to ask questions of professionals. It has been very frustrating trying to find any answers about my non cancerous condition.
