There are various types of knee surgeries out there. Where can I find info on which types of knee surgeries are performed without the use of blood in Mexico? I have a friend who is new to this option in surgery and needs info on it.

Generally all knee arthroscopic surgeries will not require blood transfusion. On the otherhand any knee arthroplasty runs the risk of receiving a blood transfusion. Institutions will transfuse patients if the hemoglobin falls within their transfusion trigger. Usually between 8-10 g/dl.
Patients should inquire with their doctor for a CBC lab test to get a good glimps of where you are with regards to your hemoglobin. The higher the better. Male between 14-18g/dl. Female normal hemoglobin ranges between 12-16 g/dl. |
