Unhappy back to basics - blood fractions

Am i right in understanding that blood fractions come from DONATED blood?
Then its STORED until it reaches the labratory?
Then its broken down to its four main components: red cells; white cells; plasma and platelets?
Then its broken down to blood fractions?
