This is a tad off-topic from the general discussion, but since this is the ask-a-professional section... I'll ask the professionals:

We've got 6 10,000-unit/1mL vials of Epogen, still with the cap on, left over from my wife's surgeries last year. We'd kept them around in the fridge just in case it looked like she was in for another surgery.

Anyway, what would the proper way to dispose of these be? Should I take them into the hospital and have them dispose of them? (I'm assuming because they've been in private possession that they can't be reused, un-tampered with or not) Or can I simply put them in the garbage and forget about them?
