Need Cystectomy without blood transfusion

My mother-in-law has a disease known as interstitial cystitis. Her urniary bladder is ulcerated and she needs a cystectomy (bladder removal surgery.) Her present doctor has told us that cell salvage can only help during the first part of the operation, but after that there is nothing to use to prevent blood loss. He is doubtful that his hospital or anesthiology team will co-operate.
Has anyone heard of a successful cystectomy being done without blood? If so, where and by whom? Does anyone know of any alternatives that could possibly be used during or after surgery?
Thank-you in advance for your help.

Thanks for your feedback. Does anyone know how long before surgery Procrit should be taken? We are trying to figure out a time frame. We may have found a doctor.
Thanks

Joanna:
You might check out this link to a previous post by one of our professional members, which has some information and a link to more information about the use of Procrit.
