IVF and Blood products

Hi! My husband and I are investigating the possibility that we will need to undergo IVF, due to fertility issues. My research has shown that the clinics in our area generally use blood products in the culture medium used to fertilise the eggs/sperm, and keep the embryos alive, with the nutrients in the blood. They also allow you, if you prefer, to use your own blood as the nutrient source.

Does anyone know of any alternatives to using blood products? From what I've read, it appears they haven't always use blood- it's a more recent thing that has increased the success rate, that's why they use it.

Thanks in advance for any assistance or advice.
