Which would be the best textbook to buy if I need to learn more about the anatomy of the human body?
Just so I better understand the discussions with medical professionals and patients regarding the sorts of surgery and treatments they may need. Easy to follow and detailed illustrations would be a bonus! Thanks all in advance! Rob

One of the world's leading textbooks is Principles of Anatomy and Physiology by Tortora and Grabowsky. It is a very in-depth exposition of the subject and includes many illustrations, and it's updated every few years. But can be a bit daunting for the lay reader. It's also quite expensive. For a more user friendly approach to the subject I would recommend the TIME/LIFE book The Rand McNally Atlas of the Human Body. It's explanations are easy to grasp and it's fully illustrated throughout. Problem is it could be out of print now (the edition I have was published in 1976), but you may be able to locate a copy in a second-hand book store or get them to track one down for you.
