NovoSeven Treatment in Patients with GI Bleeding

Question: Has anyone had experience in the use of NovoSeven in the treatment of Patients with GI Bleeding?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Case (Quick Overview) - 76 year old white female fell and broke hip. Surgery performed. Prior to surgery patient had a hemoglobin of 12.0. One day post-op showed a Hb of 7.3. Hb dropped to a low of 3.8 yesterday. Today Hb is 4.0. Patient will not accept a blood transfusion for religious reasons.

Procrit has been administered times three over a seven day period. Iron supplements administered I.V. Patient started on Protinex. Oxygen being delivered and o2 Sat is maintaining in the 95-97% range. Patient remains alert and cognitive.

GI physician suspects bleeding. However, he states patient is too weak to perform an endoscopy under anesthesia.

Physicians have been extremely cooperative in respecting the wishes of the patient. The nurses have been great as well. I am the health care surrogate for this patient.

Any information would be appreciated.
