kaleena is on a distinguished road
EPO inhibiting white lood cell recovery

our son- diagnosed -with AML leukemia-subtype M2
he is at 30 days from beginning of Induction Chemo [chemo lasted 10 days]
EPO administered 3 times a week through hicum starting 24 hrs after last chemo given
hemoglobin 36 hrs ago was at 8.7- platelets made an amazing recovery at well over 200,000
total white cell count 36 hrs ago 120
Dr. [1 of a team of 4] is hypothisizing that slower recovery of white cells is due to EPO- says the body is being pushed to make red cells - not allowing room or energy for white cell recovery
Dr.wants to withdraw EPO -and administer blood transfusion- theorizes that giving red blood cells will cause his body to let off on making red blood cells and allow white cell account to go up-
Our understaniding is that we have until Wednesday [5 to 6 more days] to begin and receive optimum results from the next round of chemo
I had asked if the white cell count slow recovery could be due to the efficacy and his reaction to the initial chemo- bone marrow asperation performed 36 hrs ago revieled no discernable cancer cells
feedback much appreciated-cell phone 808-937-9270
going in for another EPO shot and blood counts in 3 hrs
