Gallbladder Surgery Laparoscopic question

Hello everyone... my dad is in the hospital right now -- He is NOT a Jehovah's Witness; however; mom and I are -- but dad respects the Bible's teaching about blood. He's had at least 3 successful surgeries without it (hip replacement, double-bypass and hernia surgery).

My dad has been on Coumidin (sp) for the last year or so to thin his blood. The doctors at the hospital are saying they will not do this without a transfusion.

Now, I'm at work; a little helpless. But of course I helped mom remember that dad has used a Cell Saver before and has had EPO shots in the past.

He has his own version of an Advanced Medical Directive that was done at an attorney's office that states his wishes.

I also informed her to call the elders for assistance from the liasion committee as they have helped us in the past with dad.

Now.... can anyone give me advice about this type of surgery and how we can respectively approach the doctors involved?

Thanks
Christina
