Question Are there any risks associated with blood fractions?

My friend calls me last night because he thinks that since I am the webmaster of NoBlood.org that I would know the answer to all questions relating to bloodless healthcare. He is rushing to complete his DPA before he goes in for an urgent operation this week.

So he asks me: Before I answer the question of whether I accept blood fractions, are there any risks associated with blood fractions? Can I get HIV for example from a blood fraction?

I said, good question!! So, I am posting this because he is not in a good frame of mind at present. Maybe some of our healthcare pros and other users can respond to this.

Thank you.
