I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy on Thursday

Found this site whilst doing research on blood transfusions.

I am a 32 yr old mother of two.

Basically i'm scheduled for a hysterectomy on Thursday Jan 10th, sadly my hemoglobin is 73. My family doc exercised all means, 900 mg of iron every night for almost a year, and 550mg of naproxin along with 1000mg of cyclocapron a day for 7 days each month.

Anyway this Wednesday i'll be admitted for a transfusion before my surgery.

I am really nervous, a friend of my mothers said it really hurts, and I also heard that it doesnt hurt at all, so I dont know what to expect.

Also, at risk of sounding unappreciative, i'm having a difficult time thinking that i'm going to have someone elses blood, and not because of diseases etc... I trust te medical field to ensure i'm safe in that sense. Its just some body elses blood, its a weird feeling.

I read numerous things online, but can someone please tell me if I will adopt the doners traits or hormones?

I can't wait for this to be over, its been a rough year with my hemoglobin decreasing each month, been tired, my muscles ache, i've been cranky, np patience for anything.

Soon be all over with thank God.
