Smile Blood wasted during analysis

Hello everyone,
Looking at the instruments and techniques for blood analysis, it is quite striking that in all cases the blood is lost, and cannot ever be returned to the patient.
Blood samples for analysis are either thrown directly into a blood gas analyser and directed to a waste, or in the cases of drugs analysis by more complex instruments, the blood sample has to be prepared which usually involved lysing all cells with water or alcohol to release the targeted compound.
Would anyone knows of a drug extraction system (commercially available or under R&D) onto which blood can be thrown, the drug/compounds extracted i.e. bound to the system, and the blood re-infused into the patient?
Thanks in advance.
Olio
