2nd Regional Blood Conservation Conference
Thursay - Friday
April 27 - 28 2006
This program will address the necessity of developing a formal blood management approach to treating all patients. Conference topics will address the evolving medical literature establishing best practice techniques in preventing and treating anemia and blood loss. Discussion will also be held about how to establish anemia management policies for your institution.
Blood conservation is a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare where the goal is to deliver the highest quality of healthcare while significantly reducing and/or eliminating a patient’s exposure to blood and blood products.
At the completion of this conference, participants should be able to:
• Describe evidence based medical treatments available to minimize use of, and exposure to, blood products.
• Identify ways to prevent patients who undergo elective surgery with unrecognized and untreated anemia.
• Identify issues related to obtaining informed consent regarding blood transfusions.
• Identify pre-operative, peri-operative and post-operative blood conservation modalities available.
The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency- Westin Crown Center Complex, complete with apparel specialty shops, restaurants/eateries and entertainment. A block of sleeping rooms has been reserved at the discounted rate of $119 per night (plus 14.475% tax) for single or double; $144 for triple occupancy and $169 for quadruple occupancy.
