Aorta is not a great spot to have a tumour. Getting it off the adrenal gland shouldn't cause too much blood loss. Sounds like a situation where two separate surgeries [one the adrenal, other the aorta], although inconvenient, would considerably lessen risk of the transfusion issue coming up.
