long term effects of blood transfusions on lungs

Are here any long term effects. Ive read that there are some things that may happen after a transfusion which causes damage to the lungs or a collapse lung. was it called TALI or something? Would it cause a persons lung to worsen over time? and if they are a smoker would this lung damage in any way help the development of emphysema (spelling?). as ive been told any serious smoke has some form of emphysema even a tiny bit. of would that initial damage from the transfusion start to repair itself straight away?
